Between March 24 and 27, 2025, the Head of Mission, Ambassador Hugo Cayrús, accompanied by First Secretary Federico Carreño, carried out a working visit to the city of Trabzon. During this visit, meetings were held with the Governor of Trabzon, Mr. Aziz Yıldırım, the Mayor of Trabzon, Mr. Ahmet Metin Genç, and the President of the Trabzon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Erkut Çelebi.
Trabzon, the capital of the province of the same name, with an approximate population of 818,000, is one of the main commercial centers on the southern coast of the Black Sea.
The meetings held were a valuable opportunity for the Embassy of Uruguay in Ankara to begin establishing relationships and contacts with authorities and organizations in Trabzon, with the objectives of promoting trade, attracting investment, and supporting future business delegations.
