Foreigners who require Visa to enter Uruguay.
Check in advance whether your nationality requires a visa at the Visa Regime for Admission of Foreigners of the Ministry of the Interior of Uruguay.
Tourist Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Travel itinerary (round trip).
- Hotel reservations.
- Proof of income, duly accredited, that justifies your maintenance during your stay in Uruguay.
- Letter explaining the reason for the trip and length of stay.
- Visa application form (find it at the bottom of the page).
- Digital photograph taken with good lighting / Background: White / Dimension: 1200*1200 pixels.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.
Note: Visa application must be made 40 days prior to travel.
Once you have carefully reviewed the requirements detailed above, make your appointment request to uruturquia@mrree.gub.uy, sending the required documents as an attachment.
After corroborating the information, you will receive a reply with the details of your appointment to appear at the Consular Section on the date and time indicated.
Cost: To initiate the visa application before the corresponding authorities in Uruguay, you must previously pay USD 54.
Work Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Letter of promise of employment or labor contract issued by the company or institution duly registered in Uruguay, in accordance with the national regulations in force. It must contain the company’s data, information on the branch of activity, registration number in DGI and BPS, as well as personal data and signature of the person legally responsible for the company.
- Travel itinerary (round trip).
- Visa application form (find it at the bottom of the page).
- Digital photograph taken with good lighting / Background: White / Dimension: 1200*1200 pixels.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.

Business Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Letter from the company, head office or public agency in Uruguay issuing the invitation. The letter must be on letterhead and signed by the responsible authority of the company, head office or public agency. The letter must contain the personal data of the person in charge of the company inviting the visa applicant.
- Letter from the company for which he/she works, indicating the reason for the trip, position, company name and field.
- Travel itinerary (round trip).
- Hotel reservation or other proof of lodging.
- Visa application form (find it at the bottom of the page).
- Digital photograph taken with good lighting / Background: White / Dimension: 1200*1200 pixels.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.

Study Visa
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Proof of income, duly accredited, that justifies their maintenance and lodging in Uruguay for the period of stay informed by the applicant.
- Proof of registration or note from the institution or public or private educational center where the applicant will study, enjoy a scholarship or do an internship. The same must be on letterhead and signed by the legal representative of the institution and must contain the personal data of the representative, as well as the registration or authorization number of the Ministry of Education and Culture.

- Digital photograph taken with good lighting / Background: White / Dimension: 1200*1200 pixels.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.

Visa for national or international congresses, conventions and seminars
Requirements
- Passport valid for at least six months and in good condition.
- Invitation letter from the event organizer. In the case of private institutions or organizations, the letter must include a description of the institution and the event to be held and the registration or authorization number of the institution before the Ministry of Education and Culture. It must also contain the contact information of the person in charge of the institution or organization.
- Document that accredits the public interest nature of the event.
- Air reservation (round trip).
- Travel itinerary (round trip).

- Digital photograph taken with good lighting / Background: White / Dimension: 1200*1200 pixels.
- Interview with the Consular Officer.
