Emergency passport
Those who need to travel urgently and whose regular passport is damaged, missing, lost or stolen.
Who can carry out this procedure?
Born in Uruguay, children of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 16.021), grandchildren of Uruguayans born abroad (Law 19.362) and legal citizens.
Requirements
- Original Uruguayan identity card, if you do not have it, present original of another identification document.
- Copy of original passport.
- Travel itinerary.
- If you are processing your application due to theft or loss of your identity documents, it is necessary to file a report with the competent authorities.
- Report in the Uruguayan Public Security Management System (to be made at the time of processing).
- Application form (find it at the bottom of the page).
Note:
- This procedure is only carried out in person at the Consular Section.
- It can only be applied for if the Uruguayan passport was valid.
- This passport is used exclusively for emergency situations.
- The document is not delivered immediately, it requires prior approval by the authorities in Uruguay; once approved you will be informed.
- In case of traveling to Uruguay, the document is retained upon entering the country; therefore, in order to leave the country again, a new passport must be obtained in the Republic.

After corroborating the information, you will receive a reply with the details of your appointment to appear at the Consular Section on the date and time indicated.
